Edward Ficklin

Story is the heart of all of my artistic endeavors. We are composed of stories of everything we’ve seen, felt, heard. The real and the not so real. In fact, the not-so-real may be truer than the truth.
Scroll on, my darlings, and sample some of my visual tales.
Comics
Let’s start with some comics, currently my favorite way of telling tales. A note of caution: bawdiness lies ahead.

In the not too distant future, a pile of space junk coalesces into a sentient entity and has to save itself from being recycled. Appears in Tales from the Dispatch, Vol. 2.

Drawing and Painting
If you like your pictures without words, I’ve got some of those, too. Scroll on, but only if you’re comfortable with (tasteful) nudity.
Thoughts and Happenings
- Plant more treesMany seek online spaces of safety. But that doesn’t serve the profits of capitalism or bow to fascism, so the open internet, now all but totally coopted, will just not do.
- The Evolving GazeI’m thrilled to have two paintings included in the latest volume of the International Human Rights Arts Movement journal. Here’s what they have to say about it.
- Building Worlds Fast and SlowSomething easy to clean up would mean easy to disappear. In a way, it would be like erasing me along with the mess. I want to say I was here and left this work, this world, this vision.
- Alone in this dark forest?A literary fact vs. fiction shot-and-chaser to read on leisurely evenings while contemplating the stars
- Signs of Intelligent LifeA reporter’s journey into a world that we interact with (and depend on) every day but rarely notice. At least not the whole story.
