This is a love note to the wonderful group of musicians who made Opera in Flight at the Gershwin Hotel such a wonderful experience. As a composer, there is perhaps no more inspiring or humbling experience than watching your work take shape in the hands of such dedicated and consummate professionals. Add to that the gratification of a packed house both nights, and you have a very happy composer.
operamission included my one-act opera Anniversary on a line-up of pieces that explore travel, flight and the nature of reality. A big tip of the hat to director Emily Howard for making it real and not real all at the same time. Special thanks to soprano Elizabeth Brooks (Claire), baritone Nathan Wentworth (Michael) and the operamission chamber orchestra led by Jennifer Peterson for giving such stellar performances.
I'm honored to have been part of such an endeavor and look forward to hearing and seeing more from operamission in the future.
